Wii Console Buyer Guides

  • Mario Kart Wii -

The eighth and latest installment of the widely popular multiplayer racing kart game has sold nearly 10 million copies worldwide.  Due to overwhelming demand and short supply, online and retail stores across the nation are sold out!

Nintendo is bringing Mario and his friends with their finely tuned racing machines back and this time to the Nintendo Wii. With 3 different control styles and a Wii Wheel included in the box, Mario Kart Wii is bound to be the best in the series. For driving, the wii console is all about making gameplay fun through intuitive control.  This is accomplished by turning the Wii remote sideway and placing it in an insert into the Wii Wheel mold so the steering is natural - like the real thing!  Your other options is using the remote and nunchuk, a classic controller, or a Gamecube controller

The worldwide race is on with a whole new set of tricks, tracks, and ways to play!  Assume the role of your own created Mii or one of a dozen familiar and new Mushroom Kingdom characters.  Place first in Grand Prix circuits or clear skill-based missions through the games 16 new tracks and 16 classic track either in a motorbike or in a kart.   Mario Kart Wii also draws battle arenas from every game in the series – not to mention tons of new ones – the true king of the Mushroom Kingdom racing circuits will finally be crowned.  Online play is ultimately exciting and the true highlight of this game.  It offers 12-player races and a Mario Kart channel on your Wii as it updates you on player stats worldwide.  Mario Kart blasts off the starting line and finishes adreline-pumping strong to give you a high-octane performance gamplay like no other racing game around!

  • Wii Spider-Man: Web of Shadows -

In this Spider-Man game, you can get the assistance from fighting partners and his other-worldly alter-ego. This time, Spider-Man has his hands full in his latest attempt to keep the peace in New York City. When Symbiotes invade Manhattan, Spidey gains his own symbiotic power with the ability to change from the nimble and quick red-suit Spider-Man to powerful black-suit Spider-Man on the fly. One moment he’s flipping over rooftops, the next, pummeling Vulture and Venom. Wii’s Spider-Man: Web of Shadows combat system integrates Spidey’s web-swinging abilities with his fighting abilities so smoothly that he can beat back baddies while traversing the open environment. Choices that the player makes while searching for the Symbiote hive have a strong effect on the game. If Spider-Man spends a good portion of his time in the black-suit form, the Marvel characters who sign up to fight alongside him are likely to be of the villainous variety. If you decide to be more of a hero, he’ll join up with characters like Wolverine and Luke Cage. Wii’s Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is an open, 3-D sandbox game like other recent console Spider-Man titles.

  • Wii NBA Live 09 All-Play -

The Wii’s console’s intuitive motion control has brought more people to gaming than ever before. In order to ensure those without gaming pedigrees have a great time playing, EA has introduced the All-Play concept to its sports franchise. In Wii’s NBA Live 09 All-Play, the option allows you to let your athletes to get into position on their own. You also control and let them know when to shoot and when to pass. If you’re more advanced, in Wii’s NBA Live 09, you can control the actions of your athletes with the nunchuk and use the remote to point to intended pass recipients. Finally, the game also features two-on-two matching (remember NBA Jam?) except you get the full pool of available NBA and FIBA (24 national teams) talent to create your matchups.

  • Wii Metroid Prime 3: Corruption -

Nintendo’s Metroid series has been around for 20 years and is known for its ingenious use of its platform’s controls. Finally moving to the Wii console for the first time, the first-person-perspective Metroid Prime offshoot series adopts the Wii remote pointing and motion-control. The nunchuk triggers space bounty hunter Samus Aran’s basic movements and controls her grappling beam while the Wii remote takes care of aiming, firing, jumping, and additional activities such as opening air locks (with intuitive hand gestures). Wii’s Metroid Prime 3’s fluid control scheme gives the game license to strike a perfect balance between action-oriented shooting and running, and environmental exploration. The story involves the influence of Phazon, introduced by the heroine’s alter-ego Dark Samus. The player-controlled character can use the material to increase her power and armor strength, but too much of a bad thing will corrupt her. Though marketed as a single-player adventure, you can also interface with other players by sending them Friend Vouchers via WiiConnect24 and receiving tokens, which unlocks bonus content. The game was one of last Holiday season’s biggest releases and remains a popular title for action-oriented gamers.

  • Wii Cooking Mama World Kitchen -

In Cooking Mama’s second game for the Wii console, she takes you on as an apprentice. This time she’s more nurturing in World Kitchen, offering help when you need it and keeping you from using the wrong ingredients. In Wii’s Cooking Mama World Kitchen, Mama and your in-game self are 3-D characters in a kitchen environment and not just disembodied hands before in the previous taskmaster title. You watch the actions of your character when creating dishes and gesture with the Wii remote accordingly. The original Wii title required precision pointing to cut vegetables and perform other tasks. Wii’s World Kitchen controls are less demanding, giving a greater chance to succeed. The final menu for the game is set to include about fifty dishes from around the world.

  • Mario Super Galaxy review -

The latest installment of the Mario takes him far away in the most bizarre 3D adventure yet. Wii’s Super Mario Galaxy was one of the last year’s most popular titles as it defined platform gaming on the Wii console. The Wii remote and nunchuk allow you to guide Mario around with ease, even when he’s upside-down, and use gravity (or the lack of it) to your advantage. Pointing with the Wii remote enables you to shoot Starbits that you collect on the way while a shake of the remote triggers a spin move. You can also perform super jumps, slingshot Mario through space, or launch him by way of Star Rings. The Co-op mode is very different than the previous titles, as it has the second player, use the remote to collect Starbits to shoot at enemies or stun them. Wii’s Super Mario Galaxy places range from collections of little rocks floating in space to areas inspired by previous Mario adventure titles. Airships, desert worlds, underwater levels, haunted houses, lava world, and a brick-and-block patterned world just to name a few. His special abilities span the history of his titles as well. Fire Mario enables you to shoot the classic fireballs, Boo Mario lets you act like a ghost, Bee Mario transforms you to a hovering bee, and Ice Mario lets you freeze water. Its challenging game captivates gamers of all ages and will have you spending the endless hours Mario has accustomed players for years.
